THE ART OF
Artist Joe Chirichigno was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, USA. Joe studied fine art and visual communications at the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design under the instruction of master figure artist Phillip J. Steele. Upon completing his studies, he served a lengthy internship to renowned commercial illustrator Robert A. Clayton. Joe relocated to south Florida in 2000 to be a part of the emerging Miami fine art scene.
As an accomplished artist, Joe has painted many subjects throughout his career, but has always had a unique ability and passion for painting people. He is a figurative realistic, painting with bold colors and glazes in layers to create his unique signature style. Subtle skin tones and bold use of light and shadow create images that evoke emotion and capture time.
"I believe an artist's life is a life of consummate creativity, every day a new creative opportunity, a new creative challenge. For me, being an artist is not just about the work I create, but more about being a true creative persona, applying creativity to everything in my life, and to always fulfill my need to express.
I especially love the challenge of painting people. Each painting starts with sketches from life, an intense study of the physical and the emotional. It is these observations that allow me to understand the unique nuances that define each subject. Without the technical ability to capture a true likeness of a person, even the most beautiful painting would fall short and be a failure. It is this process I use to seek and capture life, beauty, harmony and the embodiment of my subject. What is expressed is what I see, what I am shown, and what I feel from an interaction of life around me.
My art is ever changing and evolving, different tomorrow than it is today. Painting allows me to capture all the moments of my life."
